Tour Itinerary
We’ll start in the vibrant North Beach neighborhood, where for generations the strong Italian-American community has shared the foods of their past with the people of today. And what better way to start than at a quaint local bakery where we’ll sample two of their most popular sweet treats?
Then we’ll weave through the streets, bursting with Italian charm on every corner, and make our way to a truly old-school Italian delicatessen that has been serving the local community for over 120 years. Your expert food-loving guide will give you a crash course in some of the best products introduced here by Italian immigrants.
Next, we’ll take a step back even further in San Francisco’s history at a hole-in-the-wall taquería, one of the most recognizable influences that the Mexican community has left in the city.
Time for a change of pace. We’ll step out of "Little Italy" and right into the beautiful chaos of Chinatown. You’ll discover the secrets that this neighborhood harbors (and learn how one part is truly authentic...but the other part is like Disneyland), and hear the stories of its most emblematic buildings.
In between learning about the trials and tribulations this neighborhood has faced, we’ll dive into some of its best cuisine! Wander through an authentic Chinese food market and eat dumplings the local way—sourced from a Chinese bakery. And of course, no visit to Chinatown would be complete without visiting the factory that has been making fortune cookies since the 1960s! See how the cookies are made and eat one hot and fresh off the line.
Last but not least, it’s time to switch things up again and make our way into San Francisco’s downtown neighborhood. You’ll discover hidden corners of the city where locals go to relax—the ones in the know, that is! Even some San Franciscans don’t know these places exist. After a short stroll around downtown, we'll head back up to North Beach.
Our final stop of the day is a special family-run business that has been serving the North Beach neighborhood for over 30 years and is still insanely popular among locals today. We’ll walk right in and head to our reserved table for a feast of cioppino, a flavorsome seafood stew with a nod to San Francisco’s Italian past.
