CONGRATULATIONS! YOU’RE ENGAGED! It’s a truly incredible time in anyone’s life, but for many brides, it can be a combination of stress and excitement. Trying to find the perfect combination of modern ideas and family traditions isn’t “a piece of cake”!
We think your wedding should be as unique as your love for each other. And the date is also fast approaching…
The Top 5 Wedding Trends You Can’t Afford to Ignore!
But before you get to cut the cake and say I Do, you know there is a lot of planning to be done. If you’re looking for ideas or trends, we’re here to help!
We’ve put together our top 5 wedding trends you NEED to read before planning even one more seating arrangement.
1: Keep Connected
It may seem obvious but your guests are going to want to share their experience with you. Both in person and on social media!
Consider starting a hashtag to connect all those photos and videos across multiple platforms. #MrAndMrsHornblower of #KateAndDanTieTheKnot! Keep it simple, easy to remember and post it everywhere you can to encourage guests to use it.
Does your venue offer free wifi? Maybe you didn’t think to ask, but this is a MUST! Many of your guests are probably travelling to spend the special day with you. And if this includes visiting from another country data charges could put a damper on the fun.
Even guests who aren’t travelling far will appreciate the free wifi to post those Snaps en Instagram Stories of uncle Tom doing the YMCA.
2: The Big Reveal
More and more couples are opting for non-traditional weddings. Everything from saying I do while bungy jumping to nuptials #InTheMist of Niagara Falls like Jim and Pam!
However, just because you’re not getting married in a chapel doesn’t mean you should throw away all the traditions. The first look or big reveal is one of those moments you’ll regret not having. TRUST US!
The good news? This can be staged just about anywhere! Hide the bride behind a curtain, blindfold the groom or face them back to back. Just make sure your photographers are ready to capture that special moment.
3: Support Local
One of our favourite wedding trends is going local. Everyone knows how important this is in our daily lives but it can sometimes be forgotten when wedding planning.
Everything from using locally sourced in season flowers to making sure your catering company is using local produce can help your wedding support your local economy.
And don’t forget the drinks! We at Hornblower are big supporters of local wine and craft beer. With incredible local producers like Niagara Brewing Company en Andrew Peller Wines, it just makes sense to showcase the local on your tables and bars.
4: DJ / Live Music Combo
Ahh the age old debate of live music vs DJ. Both have their advantages and many arguments can be made for both sides.
DJ’s can play a wider variety of music to suit your different guests’ tastes. Live bands have an incredible energy and can be more personal. A big trend now is to get both!
You can usually get a discount on the services because they won’t be working the full evening. And with a DJ/ live music combo you get the best of both worlds.
Whichever option for entertainment you choose, make sure your venue can handle the incredible party that is sure to ensue.
5: High Drama, Unique Venues
And the last trend on our list, having a dramatic unique venue. To put it mildly, nothing gets more dramatic than 2 million litres of water rushing over the highest flow rate waterfall in the world. Now put this as the backdrop to your ceremony, reception or better yet both, and people will be talking about your wedding for years to come.
Our Marquee Private Event Tent is the ultimate in class and refinery surrounded by one of the world’s natural wonders. Having hosted some of Niagara’s greatest culinary caterers it also is fine dining like you’ve never experienced before!
