Introducing New Hygiene and Service Protocols to Ensure the Wellbeing of Everyone
Chicago, June 5, 2020 – Seadog by Hornblower will be restarting its Chicago operations on Friday, June 12, offering a choice of sightseeing cruises and thrilling boat rides in accordance with Governor Pritzker’s phased reopening plan. With 100 percent outdoor seating, the company’s fleet of Seadog vessels can easily be arranged for social distancing with reduced capacity. Rides last between 30-75 minutes and all occur outside in the fresh air, so there is more than enough room on board for everyone to stay safely apart.
To provide reassurance in the current pandemic environment, Hornblower has expanded its industry defining SafeCruise by Hornblower program, building on already stringent sanitation processes, to incorporate further health-driven measures to guard against the spread of COVID-19 and other viruses.
Explaining the company’s preparations for welcoming guests back on board, Hornblower Regional Vice President for the Midwest, Dan Russell said: “We are proud of our excellent safety and sanitation track record and always operate and maintain a rigorous process around cleanliness and hygiene. So, while our guests can still expect the same high standards and thrilling Seadog ride, we are adapting our amazing experiences to reflect the need for social distance, alongside elevated health and hygiene practices.”
Hornblower has reviewed every aspect of the guest experience journey and is taking all steps necessary to ensure the wellbeing of everyone on board. These include, but are not limited to:
- Mandatory daily crew member health screening, and wearing of appropriate PPE
- Herziening van de instap- en ticketprocedures om sociale afstand en touchless entry mogelijk te maken.
- Gasten moeten gezichtsmaskers dragen tijdens het varen, behalve tijdens het eten en drinken.
- Reducing the number of guests on board, and adapting all seating to allow for a minimum 6-foot distance between guests while they cruise
- Toepassing van verbeterde sanitaire en ontsmettingsprocedures, met overal beschikbare handontsmettingsstations.
One of the best ways to enjoy Chicago’s unique architecture and incredible skyline, Seadog experiences include the popular 75-minute narrated River and Lake Architectural Tour, the only tour that travels from the lakefront, through the locks and along the Chicago River. Prices start at: *$42.95 adult, *$25.95 child.
A 30-minute Lakefront Speedboat Tour and Extreme Thrill Ride – the ultimate adventure experience on Lake Michigan – is also offered and features entertaining narration presented by an onboard guide. Prices start at: *$27.95 adult, *$21.45 child (Lakefront Tour); *$35.45 adult, *$25.45 child (Extreme Thrill).
For now, Hornblower will be offering a choice of Seadog cruises and tours only, and plans to resume its full range of experiences, including dining cruises and special events, when current restrictions are lifted. Chicago will be the company’s fourth US port to reopen, joining Baltimore, Newport Beach and San Diego.
