The professional USCG licensed captain will narrate stories, sights, and facts about Charleston while passing locations critical to United States history. Get close-up views of Fort Sumter, one of Charleston's most popular landmarks, where the first shots of the Civil War were fired. See the USS Yorktown: the famous World War II “Fighting Lady." Pass by St. Michael’s Episcopal Church which survived both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, whose steeple was painted black so as not to be an easy target. Learn of the symbols of Southern elegance and perseverance while passing the stately homes on the Battery. Cruise past Cooper River Bridges, including the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, a state of the art span that accommodates the largest ships in the world, and connects downtown Charleston to Mount Pleasant. Take in panoramic views throughout the cruise, and try to spot pelicans skimming the water and even some of the harbor’s dolphins!
