Your big day is a few months away and you’re in panic mode. The bridesmaids are bickering over where the bachelorette party will be, the groom and groomsmen are in their own world, and to top it off your monster-in-law still wants tulips instead of peonies for the floral decoration on YOUR wedding day. Breathe.
We know you’re stressed and want you to know, we’re here for you. We have a wedding specialist that is 8000 times better than JLo as a wedding planner in the movie “The Wedding Planner.” His name is Tyler Lindsay, and we are ecstatic that he’s OUR wedding specialist.
He started his journey 15 years ago as an intern in Atlanta and slowly made his way to the Big Apple. Working with event management firms, boutique catering companies and venue brokers, it’s no wonder why clients love him as much as we do. His weddings are filled with poise and are practically flawless.
Do you mind sharing some tips on how the lovely bride & groom-to-be can have a smooth wedding process?
1. Communication is key. I know it sounds cliche, but a lot of issues are caused when no one speaks up. In turn, it causes more problems and stress. No one wants to start their new journey on the wrong foot.
2. It is your wedding. Not your mom-in-law’s, not your bridesmaids or groomsmen, not anyone else’s. This day is a special day for the two special people becoming one. Don’t let anyone get in the way of that. Also, there are no rules. If you want to be traditional, go for it, if you want to do something completely different, GO FOR IT. The world is yours on your special day.
3. Focus. It’s easy to get sidetracked on the smaller things. Realistically speaking, no one will notice if the color of the flower matches the napkins. They are there for you.
What makes a Hornblower Yacht such a special wedding venue?
This is definitely a wedding for the unique and unconventional couple. It’s a great way to get family and friends from all over get together and enjoy each other’s company all while celebrating you! Between the first-class service and the amazing views of the NYC Skyline, everyone wins!
How do you make the couple feel special?
I always say that it’s the small things in life that make people happy. I ask the couple to bring their personal touch of decorations and set it up for them on their big day. There are more things to worry about on your wedding day, so that’s why I take even the smallest things off of their plate.
Since working here, what’s been the most memorable wedding?
The smaller, intimate weddings always capture my heart. At one of the weddings, the groom’s best man played an acoustic version of “Knocks Me Off My Feet,” by Stevie Wonder. The hairs on my arms stood up and everyone, including staff, was so touched. Everyone joined the bride and groom on the dance floor and I couldn’t help but be in awe. Such a beautiful moment, especially with the NYC Skyline as a backdrop. Truly an amazing experience in my wedding career.
Tune in next month for the next “Wedding talks with Tyler” blog!
Cheers!
