Sticking with the tradition of Hornblower bringing you new album releases of the year (how can anyone forget French Montana?) Hornblower was happy to partner with iHeart host the release of Usher’s Hard II Love album at Pier 15, broadcast live on AT&T.
The crowd was ready for an exclusive secret show, with the anticipation built by DJ sets from Grits & Biscuits’ EZ Mo Breezy and DJ Square Biz.
Then, finally, the moment arrived: Usher took center stage at Hornblower’s Pier 15.
Everyone agrees, Usher still has it. It’s been a hot minute since his last album, Looking 4 Myself and his new tracks did not disappoint.
Usher himself admitted that this was a first-time event, even he has never performed new songs at a listening party for fans only a day after an album’s release; as he said himself, “This is the first time that I’ve ever done this man,” and what a show it turned out to be.
But if there were any fears that Usher’s new material wouldn’t bring it, they were quickly allayed, opening with the album’s first track, “Need U” and taking the crowd through both new and old material from there. Highlights included the Young Thug-featured “No Limit,” and older classics such as “Without You.”
The show had everything, Usher admitting his performance was soul-bearing. And, of course, he brought out those signature dance moves, along with the passion you’d expect… possibly better than ever.
Just another great night courtesy of Hornblower and iHeart!
