MARCH 2014: OPERATIONS BEGIN
Since March 2014, Hornblower Cruises & Events has offered public dining, sightseeing and entertainment cruises out of lower Manhattan’s Pier 15 at the South Street Seaport.
Hornblower’s new cruises from Pier 15 include its Alive After Five and Rock the Yacht! cruises. The Alive After Five Cruise, boarding at 5pm, sailing from 6-8PM six nights a week, offers the ultimate views of the Manhattan Skyline and the Statue of Liberty. The cruise features beer, wine and cocktails, plus food stations and DJ entertainment. Hornblower’s Rock the Yacht! Cruise, running from 9PM-midnight five nights a week, features high-energy music and includes a similar variety of beverage and food options.
“The expansion to Pier 15 allows Hornblower to offer a more robust set of sightseeing and entertainment cruise options for local New Yorkers and visitors to the metropolitan area,” says Cameron Clark, Vice President and General Manager of Hornblower New York. “It is our hope that with great service, affordable prices, and unparalleled luxury aboard our yachts, Hornblower can provide a unique and successful cruise while helping to continue to draw crowds to local businesses in the South Street Seaport, which is still recovering in the wake of Sandy,” adds Clark.
“Our intent is to build partnerships with local businesses in lower Manhattan through our new operation out of Pier 15,” comments Tom D’Amato, Vice President of Business Development for Hornblower New York and a 25-year veteran of the public yachting industry. “With the New York Harbor School, for example, we’re thrilled to be providing the space for local residents to take courses on boater safety and marine ecology at the pier,” D’Amato adds. “Additionally, we’re excited that these new public cruise products from Pier 15 will bring sightseeing to a whole new level. It has the potential to be industry changing.”
Operations at Pier 15 compliment Hornblower’s existing private charter and public dining cruise operations based at Pier 40 in the West Village. Additionally, Hornblower manages pier space at Battery Park where our partner, Manhattan By Sail, provides classic sailing charters to the public.
