Introducing New Hygiene and Service Protocols to Ensure the Wellbeing of Everyone
Sacramento, June 19, 2020 – Hornblower Cruises and Events will be restarting its Sacramento operations on Saturday, June 27, offering a variety of river cruises on the Sacramento River. Guests can marvel at majestic views of the state capitol from the stylish deck and recently refurbished interior aboard the Capitol Hornblower as she meanders past Old Sacramento’s famous historical sites. With expansive decks spread over several levels, combined with reduced capacity, there is more than enough room on board for everyone to stay safely apart.
Available Saturday and Sunday, the hour and a half Alive After 5 cruise is perfectly timed for those looking to wind down after a busy day with cocktail in hand! While on Saturday evenings, the Rock the Yacht experience is a fun alternative for social gatherings while listening to great tunes and soaking up the bright lights of the city. A range of refreshments and light bites are available for purchase on board. To reflect current requirements, guests will be served at their table. Prices for both cruises start from $19.51 and are open to those aged 21 and over only.
For all generations, the Social Sunday cruise is an ideal afternoon excursion for the whole family. Prices start from $19.51 (children’s rates from $11.71) for the hour and a half cruise which includes music, cocktails, light bites, and beautiful daytime views.
To provide reassurance in the current pandemic environment, Hornblower has expanded its industry defining SafeCruise by Hornblower program, building on already stringent sanitation processes, to incorporate further health-driven measures to guard against the spread of COVID-19 and other viruses.
Explaining the company’s preparations for welcoming guests back on board, regional vice president Jill Benson said: “We are proud of our excellent safety and sanitation track record and always operate and maintain a rigorous process around cleanliness and hygiene. So, while our guests can still expect the same high standards and welcoming service, we are adapting our amazing experiences to reflect the need for social distance, alongside elevated health and hygiene practices.”
Hornblower has reviewed every aspect of the guest experience journey and is taking all steps necessary to ensure the wellbeing of everyone on board. These include, but are not limited to:
- Mandatory daily crew member health screening, and wearing of appropriate PPE
- Revising boarding and ticketing procedures to allow for social distancing and touchless entry
- Requiring guests to wear face masks while cruising, except while eating and drinking
- Reducing the number of guests on board, and adapting all seating and table spacing to allow for a minimum 6-foot distance between guests while they cruise
- Implementing enhanced sanitation and disinfection procedures, with hand sanitizing stations available throughout
To reflect current requirements, some of the usual elements like live entertainment and dancing won’t be permitted. For the time being, Hornblower will be offering a limited choice of cruises and plans to resume its full program of experiences when current restrictions are lifted.
Sacramento will be the company’s fourth Californian port to reopen, joining Marina del Rey, Newport Beach and San Diego.
