It’s been a great year at Hornblower, mostly because we’re lucky enough to spend our time around people having an amazing experience, at least when we’re not busy making sure they do!
Whether it’s seeing the joy of people taking selfies in front of the Statue of Liberty on our New York International Sightseeing Cruise—all of our cruises, actually—to the most important day of people’s lives when they tie the knot aboard any one of our amazing yachts.
We’ve had a great time with all sorts of amazing people doing amazing things, all on Hornblower’s yachts… if you can do it on land, you can do it on water. We like to say everything’s better on a yacht!
But just in case you haven’t been convinced by this idea yet, or you just weren’t aware of all the interesting, exciting and amazing things we’ve been doing on the Hudson, New York Harbor and the East River… here’s a wrap of some of the highlights from 2015.
One of the unquestionable highlights was Hornblower’s appearance on Million Dollar Listing, and it was all drama. Fredrik Eklunds’ husband, Derek, announced plans for them to have a baby with his best friend Lynn… all on the deck of the Hornblower Hybrid. And of course, Eklund used the opportunity to showcase a property from the water, because what better way to see NYC than from the water?! Watch the clip to see it all unfold
Concerts? We’ve done plenty of those this year as well; too many to mention them all but we couldn’t go without a bit of reminiscing back to the Pepsi Out of the Blue Music Experience. Music fans who won tickets via New York radio stations Power 105.1, Z100, 103.5 KTU and 106.7 Lite FM, packed the Infinity for a rocking party featuring live performances from Flo Rida, Jeremih and Prince Royce.
You can see pictures of what went down here, and check out video of the night, including Flo Rida diving right into the crowd!
Needless to say, we like our drinks at Hornblower, or should we say, you like our drinks! So, when it came to hosting an off-Broadway musical, The Imbible: Rum Drinks…And Pirates! it was a no-brainer. Billed as a spirited history of drinking, The Imbible teaches about the history of alcohol musical-style, and when added to our Alive After Five cruise, what else could you need? Broadway, cocktails and a happy hour cruise all in one!
It’s not all nighttime and parties, either… well, we like to keep the party bit! That’s where Daybreaker has come in and help; we’ve had some great early morning parties in 2015, the video below is an indication of the sort of fun that can be had before work… the Mad Hatter’s Halloween was also a favorite!
At a slightly different pace, we had The Big Quiet aboard for some early morning yoga as part of the ‘Get Quiet. Live Loud’ series hosted by Lululemon. It’s been the best way to start the morning and there’s no better location for yoga than on the water surrounded by an amazing view.
We’re proud to say we’ve been lucky enough to be involved with numerous charity events as well, apart from our own, now annual, ACS Children’s holiday party. We’d have to say Fran Drescher’s Cancer Schmancer 7th birthday was up there as one of 2015’s more memorable events and Fran was great to have aboard – take a look at the fun that was had here.
We’ve also done charity events with iHeart. We’ve enjoyed having iHeart aboard for lots of special events and cruises, including charity events on board Alive After Five, supporting St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, as well as giving away tickets to Jingle Ball aboard Alive After Five and Skating in Central Park, and welcoming aboard some of our favorite of on-air personalities. It’s been fun and we’re already looking forward to more great events with iHeart.
Back in February, we welcomed aboard the Lighting Society for The Courtesan’s Voyage and we’re not sure anyone had any idea just quite how unique this event was going to be, right up to trapeze artists on the Hornblower Infinity. Their second affair, Celestial Burlesquerade didn’t disappoint, with incredible costumes and a party of epic proportions.
We also had a great time with Village Voice, the recent Holiday Spirits party was a great start to the holiday season.
And one of the highlights for Hornblower New York to date was our amazing 4th July celebrations aboard El Galeón – a 170-foot, 495-ton authentic wooden replica of a Spanish galleon, and the Shipwrecked and the Seaport parties that also went off aboard El Galeón.
To everybody who has come aboard, and everybody we’ve worked with, we’d like to say thanks! We’re looking forward to an even bigger 2016 and continuing to do things the Hornblower way, where the only limit is imagination!
Here’s to a great 2016!
