Hornblower Cruises & Events recently hosted HSMAI San Diego for their annual Bike Build & Holiday Luncheon. The event was held at Hornblower’s on-land venue, The Abbey on Fifth Avenue near Balboa Park in San Diego, CA. HSMAI (Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International) teamed up to build bikes for underprivileged families in San Diego, in addition to holiday mingling with friends and colleagues.
Starting in 1927 with over 7,000 members worldwide, HSMAI is committed to growing business for hotels and their partners. Hornblower has a close relationship to HSMAI spanning over several decades with crew members holding various board and committee positions.
Originally constructed as an Episcopal church, The Abbey is an elegant 1910 landmark. It is San Diego’s only remaining Classic Revival structure and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The 10,000 square foot venue houses winding dark-wood balconies, magnificent arched windows and antique light fixtures. With two stained glass domes allowing sunshine to stream in, the facility is a gorgeous option for gala banquets, wedding receptions, product launches, concerts, proms and other special celebrations. The Abbey accommodates up to 350 guests for seated dining and 475 for strolling events, including tables, chairs, linens and in house, on-site catering. The Abbey is a division of Hornblower Cruises & Events.
