A seemingly never-ending winter can really suck the life out of you. And if you’re an event planner, you know your passion and enthusiasm are everything. Without that attention to detail and enduring devotion, your events will fall flat. Hornblower is here to ensure that doesn’t happen, so listen up!
6 Tips for Boosting Your Energy in the Winter
1. GET TO THE GYM
That whipping wind and those mounds of snow outside feel like a good enough reason to lock yourself indoors and become a hermit. Sure, heading to the gym seems pretty obvious, but it’s proven that consistent exercise (especially cardio) can help boost your energy, creativity, and will leave you feeling healthier and happier.
2. ATTEND A TRADE SHOW OR CONFERENCE
Your event schedule may slow down in the winter, but that doesn’t mean you have to. To keep yourself on your toes, check out the local trade show and conference schedule and identify a few events that may be relevant or helpful for you. Be sure to attend a few smaller seminars or panels of interest when in attendance.
3. TAKE A WORKSHOP OR SHORT COURSE
No matter what types of events your specialize in producing, there’s a relevant (and reasonably priced) workshop out there that can help you pass those winter hours. We’d recommend checking out NYC-based classes by CourseHorse.com.
4. CREATE A SPOTIFY PLAYLIST
Even if you don’t have a subscription to Spotify, you can still create custom playlists on the service’s free version. Music is especially helpful when you’re working from home and your motivation level may be lower than normal. We’d suggest putting together an eclectic mix, spanning several decades and genres. ABBA, anyone?
5. GET OUTDOORS!
The winter months allow for a number of outdoor activities that you can’t take advantage of during any other time of the year. The snow and ice may seem daunting, but show it who’s boss. Grab some snow shoes, go ice skating, or even try cross-country skiing. The fresh air is sure to give you a boost of energy.
6. TAKE A TRIP
By January and February, we’re all a little over the cold. If you have the time and the budget, head south for some time on the beach. Just remember, South Florida is the only part of Florida that has consistently warm weather throughout the winter. Try Naples, Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, or the Keys.
