The holiday season is upon us, and that means a whole lot of holiday parties are coming your way! If you happen to be planning a office Holiday party (or know someone who is), here are three tips to help make sure your party shines when everyone shows up to the yearly shindig.
1. Pick a convenient party date early on.
For most people, the holiday season is a stressful time chock-full of endless events, family visits, shopping excursions, and school performances, with little free time to spare. An earlier date is usually a better choice to ensure your office Holiday party is a happy and pleasant affair. Also, make sure to give your employees adequate advance notice and send out a save the date.
2. Provide ample food and drink to meet most dietary needs.
These days you have folks who are gluten-free, have nut allergies or vegan dietary restrictions (or all of the above) so be sure that the food and beverages you plan to serve encompass your guests’ dietary needs and preferences. It’s a good practice to have a wide range of selections, which can be enjoyed by all. Depending on your company culture it might also be important to have on hand craft beer, wine and champagne or even a mixologist! But be sure to provide plenty of soft drinks, juices, and bottled waters for the nondrinkers to enjoy. Lastly, be sure there’s plenty of everything to go around.
3. Attire recommendation.
Reduce anxiety for everyone involved by indicating what the recommended attire should be. Party guests always appreciate knowing the dress code recommendations beforehand. For holiday office parties and year-end seasonal gatherings, “festive,” “business casual,” or “cocktail” attire is usually the norm.
