Alcatraz Cruises enjoys supporting the community in which we reside. One of our favorite partners is the Boys & Girls Club of San Francisco.
In alignment with Parc 55 San Francisco and Hilton San Francisco Union Square, we recently hosted youth from the organization for two speaker series engagements in which children were able to interact with former Alcatraz prisoner Bill Baker and historian John Martini. Additionally, the Boys & Girls Club enjoyed a field trip to Alcatraz Island so that they could further their education about Alcatraz’s alluring history.

As a result of the interactions, the Boys & Girls Club crafted a series of visuals to illustrate their interpretation of Alcatraz’s robust past. The artwork was unveiled at the April speaker series event, held at the Parc 55, and will be on display at the hotel along with other exhibit features from July through September 2018.
Additionally, both Alcatraz Cruises and Parc 55 San Francisco made generous cash donations to the organization in order to support Boys & Girls Club’s future educational initiatives.

And, for your viewing pleasure, here is a display of the youth’s Alcatraz Island art project.

About the Boys & Girls Club of San Francisco:
We inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
Part of the community since 1891, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco (BGCSF) currently serves 1,634 youth (ages 6-18) per day. They serve more than 19,000 youth per year at eight Clubhouses located in the neighborhoods with the fewest resources, one extension site, four school-based sites and Camp Mendocino, a 2,000-acre residential summer camp that provides a creative and fun outdoor experience for youth. Boys & Girls Clubs are open “when kids need us most” – after school, on most school holidays and during the summer. The clubs offer safe places where young people can learn, grow, and succeed.
