Essential Info

  • Audio tour wands are provided upon arrival at Mount Vernon’s Ford Orientation Center.  If you prefer to use your smartphone, the audio tour can also be accessed online.
  • Visitor parking is always free at Mount Vernon.
  • Only bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC (that do not exceed 16" x 16" x 8"), one-gallon clear plastic freezer bags (Ziploc bag or similar), and small clutch bags (4.5" x 6.5") with or without a handle or strap (these do not have to be clear), are permitted at the estate.
  • Comfortable shoes are recommended as there are dirt paths and some uneven walkways.
  • Strollers are welcome on the outside at the estate's grounds.
  • Standard, non-motorized wheelchairs and wheeled walkers are available free of charge inside the Ford Orientation Center on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Outside food and drink other than bottled water are prohibited on the estate.
  • Entry to the Mansion is by guided tour only and requires a Mansion tour ticket (a grounds pass allows access to the estate).
