The Plunder Pirates are here! For tonight only, Hornblower New York welcomes, in conjunction with ComicCon New York, the Plunder Pirates after-party reception at Pier 40 in the West Village hosted by Rovio Entertainment Ltd .
Arriving from Spain specially for the event is the 170-foot El Galeón, a 495-ton wooden replica of a Spanish galleon. This invite-only event will attract up to 150 VIP guests, and features special pirate punch, cider, dark and stormies, and plenty of pirate paraphernalia!

Plunder Pirates is a freemium mobile MMO strategy video game, inspired by Clash of Clans, developed by Midoki and published by Rovio Stars. For iOS, it soft-launched in Canada and Finland on June 16, 2014 and the worldwide iOS release was on September 17, 2014. This game was one of the first to use the iOS Metal API for advanced graphics in iOS 8. The Android and Windows Phone versions will be released in 2015.
Plunder Pirates is a multiplayer game in which players build a base, train pirates, defend against enemies and attack other players to earn in-game gold, which can then be used to build defenses to protect the player against other players attacking them. The player finds missions and items by exploring the ocean.
The game differs from Clash of Clans by being in full 3D and the player can spin the camera 360 degrees.

El Galeón is a 170-foot, 495-ton, detailed wooden replica of a galleon that was part of Spain’s West Indies fleet. During the Viva Florida 500 Voyage, it will cover more than 3500 nautical miles with 28 crew members aboard, maneuvering more than 9,600 square feet of sail area, as it was done in the 16th Century. The ship is owned by the Nao Victoria Foundation of Seville, Spain.
El Galeón began its historic Viva Florida 500 Voyage in Spain and stopped in Puerto Rico, where Ponce de León once was governor. The ship’s Florida route was similar to the one Ponce de León sailed 500 years ago, and the crew is using the navigational technology of that era.
Ponce de León’s arrival in Florida in April 1513 marked the beginning of a European presence in what is now the U.S. mainland. He also is credited with discovering the Gulf Stream, which led to development of the early trade routes between Spain and the Americas.
