Julie Shore and Scott Gaede divorced nearly a decade ago in 2014 after 17 years of marriage. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, they found themselves in the same quarantine bubble, which led to an unexpected rekindling of their relationship.

Their story, featured on TODAY, describes how the rekindling unfolded during the 2019 COVID quarantine, “… Julie and Scott, who live in Cincinnati, Ohio, were determined to keep the peace during COVID-19 lockdown for the sake of their children — and their own sanity.” However, it wasn’t all roses and sunshine to start. The transformation happened gradually – enough that their daughters, Rachel and Caroline, noticed this renewed connection. Their parents were starting to enjoy each other’s company, and not for the girls’ sake.

Real-Life ‘Parent Trap’

The sisters playfully orchestrated a real-life Parent Trap scenario, encouraging their parents to reunite. For those who haven’t watched this nostalgic movie, The Parent Trap – both the 1961 original and 1998 remake revolve around twin sisters, separated at birth due to their parents’ divorce, who meet for the first time at summer camp. Despite initially clashing, they realize they are sisters and hatch a daring plan to reunite their estranged parents.

“Everything from the past fell away and I realized that family was all that mattered and the four of us needed to be together again,” Julie reveals.

Wedding Bells the Second Time Around

By the close of 2021, Scott and Julie were living happily together in one household!

“It was around that time that the girls were like, ‘You need to propose,’” Scott explained on TODAY. Scott didn’t need much persuasion, and in 2022, he proposed while Rachel and Caroline looked on, their faces lit up with smiles.

On Dec. 28, 2023 Scott and Julie once again tied the knot – this time in an intimate ceremony, but one that has been watched by millions after Rachel posted it on TikTok.

“WAR IS OVERRRRRR,” Rachel wrote on the on the video. “Our parents are officially REmarried and we are no longer children of divorce.”

“Successful parent trap,” she added.

City Cruises’ Celebrates A Second Time Around

To celebrate their love story of resilience, City Cruises partnered with TODAY by gifting the Gaede family with a New York Bateaux Premier Dinner Cruise.  They enjoyed a 3-hour dinner cruise featuring a plated dinner menu, live acoustic band, and jaw-dropping, panoramic views of New York City’s skyline from the glass-enclosed yacht. They glided past historic landmarks and skylines such as the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, Brooklyn Bridge, and One World Trade Center.

Julie summed up their City Cruises experience perfectly, “Such a wonderful experience!! Thank you for the perfect ending to an incredible day!!”
