9:30 am Whale Watch & Dolphin Sightings:
Common Dolphins
Sea Lions
The boat left the harbor and we drove towards the opening of the harbor. We were met by a few sea lions and headed out to the water off the coast looking for gray whales migrating past San Diego on their way to the lagoons in Baja Mexico. We saw a small pod of common dolphins that were mostly young.
We followed the dolphins a bit and then left them and headed off in search of whales. About later we found another small pod of dolphins. They were common dolphins with a matriarch and several babies.
It is always great to see the babies right beside their moms. It seems the gray whales hadn’t been in our area today. We headed back into the harbor stopping by the bait docks to see the sea lions and birds. Everyone on board enjoyed the trip and had a great time on the ocean.
