LGBTQ+ Weddings on the Water Have a Nice Ring to it
It’s your wedding day and it is all about you two becoming one. Our very own crew member, Amber Cross, celebrated her wedding aboard Endless Dreams in California, and here’s what she had to say about her experience. Amber kindly shared gorgeous photos of her and her wife Heather (and their cute pups Daphne and Bella) from their wedding day.
Did you always know that you would like to get married on the water?
I didn’t, actually. I am probably an outsider in that I was not someone who ever envisioned my dream wedding. I am sort of a low-maintenance person and probably would have said (if someone had asked me before we picked City Cruises) that I wanted something small and low-key. That being said, as soon as I started working here, and experienced what we did first-hand, I immediately thought how amazing it would be to get married with the water as my backdrop. I was married about 6 years after I started working for the company, so I had lots of time growing my love for the amazing experiences we provide on our boats. When we were looking at venues, I was slightly hesitant to get married where I work, but it was one of the best decisions. We were blown away by the scenery, the staff, and the food, everything was perfect, and it was truly one of the most fun and memorable nights of my life.
How was your experience with the wedding coordinator?
Our wedding coordinators are the best! They are so knowledgeable, helpful, and responsive. Our goal in the office is to never let any client inquiry go 24 hours without a response, and our wedding coordinators take that goal to heart. If you have any experience with vendors and venues, this one small attribute sets City Cruises apart from all of them. As a bride, getting answers to your questions quickly is such an anxiety reliever. My coordinator, Holland, made it her mission to make sure I had no worries during the planning process or the day of. She worked hand in hand with the staff to make sure everything we chatted about in the planning process, made it to the crew on board. Again, the day couldn’t have gone better, and that was in large part due to the coordination from the City Cruises team.
Did you like the decor?
The decor was beautiful. First off, you are on a beautiful boat, surrounded by the most gorgeous scenery possible, so I didn’t have to worry about decor that much. I knew it was going to be stunning with minimal effort. City Cruises also has wonderful relationships with quality vendors. They were able to handle all the florals, linens, entertainment, etc…and all I did was pick colors and tell them what kind of flowers I liked. It all came together seamlessly.
Were you happy with everything and would you recommend a wedding on the water to others?
I think the above answers probably tell the story, that yes, I would absolutely recommend a wedding on the water. The company is big, but “homey”, so you get the quality standards set forth by a large hospitality company, with the comfort and attention provided by your family. You can tell everyone cares about your experience, and they want it to be perfect. I would recommend it a thousand times over. If you want the most beautiful backdrop, with the most professional staff, and an easy planning process; City Cruises is the only place you should be looking at.
