FILMING LIVE FROM THE NIAGARA PARKWAY
After months of planning, Niagara Falls Tourism and the Niagara Parks welcomed the 25 crew and four news anchors on Wednesday, September 17th, 2015 to the freshly set stage overlooking the amazing and world famous waterfalls. Located on the Niagara Parkway and situated just a few hundred feet from the Hornblower Ticket Plaza, morning Co Hosts, Samantha Armytage, David Koch, Sports Presenter, Mark Baretta and News Presenter, Natalie Barr conducted their morning show live from 4pm to 7pm which is 6am to 9am Australian time. Among the morning broadcast the news anchors interviewed world renowned ‘Kiss By A Rose’ singer, Seal through a video call back to Australia. Earlier in the day, the hosts toured a number of Niagara Falls attractions including the Niagara Helicopter, and our famous boat tour to the Falls. The hosts also had a chance to taste some true Canadian flavours through a deliciously sweet and savory bacon and maple syrup donut.
FIVE COUNTRIES, FIVE DAYS
That’s right the new anchors and crew packed their bags and was ready to jet set off to five amazing countries in literally one week. The countries the Channel 7 Program broadcasted from included (in order) Dubai on Monday, London, England on Tuesday, New York on Wednesday, Niagara Falls on Thursday, and Cancun, Mexico on Friday. Throughout the entire journey the anchors and crew travelled a total of 39,686 km and spent 48 hours and 22 minutes flying from country to country. Among their city visits a number of celebrity interviews were conducted including interviews with Ed Sheeran, Adam Lambert, Phil Collins and Seal. Each of the morning show broadcasts highlighted featured a famous landmark including the mighty Falls, the banks of the Thames overlooking the Tower Bridge in London, the Burj Khalifa the world’s tallest skyscraper in Dubai, the Rockerfeller Centre while in the big apple (New York) and an all inclusive beach resort while in sunny Cancun, Mexico.
THE CAST AND CREW TAKE ON THE FALLS
With a tight time schedule to follow the morning co hosts and crew made it to Hornblower Niagara Cruises after soaring the skies with the Niagara Helicopters. At 1:00pm just a short 2.5 hours from going live from Niagara Falls, Canada the cast and crew were able to fit in a 20-minute daytime ‘Voyage to the Falls’ boat tour and film the #inthemist experience from aboard 360-degree unobstructed viewing platform. As boat tour guests looked towards the Falls they saw ‘Kochie’ (David Koch) and ‘Sam’ (Samantha Armytage) take on the powerful mist and thundering Falls all the while trying to keep their composure as the boat changed positioning in front of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls.
