2 York Christmas Market

York Christmas Market – also known as St Nicholas Fair is set to return from 14th November to 22nd December 2024with twinkling lights, the scent of mulled wine, and lots of unique gift ideas. The famous alpine chalets will return to line Parliament Street and St Sampson’s Square, creating a festive wonderland of local traders and artisan products.

3 Santa Cruise

Join Santa for a marvellously magical festive cruise with City Cruises York. You might think that Santa is far too busy to drop in to York to see all the good boys and girls, but you’d be wrong; Santa loves cruising on the Ouse every year to spread festive cheer!

4 Christmas at York Castle Museum

York Castle Museum is a must do this Christmas. Their Victorian Street, Kirkgate is particularly Dickensian dressed in its festive finery.

5 York Minster Christmas Carol Concerts

York Minster’s popular Christmas Carol Concerts offer the perfect start to the festive season. The Choir of York Minster, one of the UK’s leading cathedral choirs, perform traditional and much loved Christmas music, with seasonal readings from a special guest and the chance for the audience to join in with some classic carols.

The concerts take place in the beautiful setting of York Minster’s awe-inspiring Nave, and include music by the Yorkshire Volunteer Band.

As well as the Christmas Carol Concerts, York Minster offers a multitude of festive activities such as their Christmas Tree Festival, which features nearly 40 trees decorated by local businesses, schools and charities.
